One of my goals for 2008 was to create an altered book. However, after maiming two books with less than desirable results (and earning myself countless blisters), I decided that perhaps an altered box was a better idea. It was already hollow so I didn't have to carve it out and it was shaped like a book so... close enough?
I checked it off my resolutions list, in any case. The picture is a slightly altered version of my Annabel Lee fanart [link] and the envelope folds out to display the eponymous poem. I was glad to finally use the seashells for something as they've been sitting in my craft bin for years! And, lastly, the lock of hair is mine. Is that creepy...? ^^' I had a lot of fun making this and I'd like to create one in the future based on the movie Labyrinth (probably focused on the ballroom scene). However, I'm faced with a problem: What exactly am I supposed to do with it now that I have it? More clutter for the bedroom, I suppose... Anyway, that's gorgeous! What a neat project!
I especially love the little odds and ends you used. Like the button for the envelope and the brooch on the cover.
..was that your hair? : D

Draw what moves you.
Hehe! Well, I suppose clutter can be entertaining when viewed in a certain light... like when you're looking for something important in a pile of junk, it becomes a challenging treasure hunt!
Unfortunately, my amount of clutter falls into the 'fire hazard' category. I really need to clean my room... ~_^
Thanks again!
My biggest inspiration for this box (including the little odds and ends) came from Karen Hatzigeorgiou's work. She makes the most fantastic altered books and reliquaries! Here's her gallery, if you're interested: [link] .
As for the hair, yep, it's mine. My brother thinks it's creepy but Annabel Lee is supposed to be a little on the dark side, right? ^^'
Thank you again!
